An industrial HVAC equipment supplier located in Southeast Asia required a VOC filtration module for implementation in large-scale factory ventilation systems. Their primary challenge was to ensure consistent air quality performance while minimizing the bulk and weight of their existing filter units. The previous filter design exhibited insufficient durability in high-temperature environments and had a limited adsorption lifespan, resulting in frequent replacements and elevated service costs.

The client needed a modular, lightweight, and efficient filtration system that could be supplied at scale and meet local environmental compliance.

Tml Industries proposed a honeycomb-structured activated carbon filter, housed in an aluminium frame for reduced weight and improved structural integrity under industrial airflow pressure.

Key stages of development:

Material optimization

Tml selected a high-adsorption carbon composite, pressed into honeycomb matrices to maximize surface contact and airflow.

Frame design

An extruded aluminium profile was used for the housing, optimized for heat resistance and long-term mechanical stability.

Rapid prototyping

Initial units were produced within 4 weeks for fit testing in the client’s HVAC systems.

Performance validation

Filters were tested under varying flow rates and VOC concentrations. Lifecycle simulations were run to validate maintenance intervals.

Pilot run

A 1,000-unit batch was manufactured and field-tested in 3 client-operated factories.

This upgrade enabled the client to reposition their filtration systems as both cost-efficient and environmentally compliant, thereby improving their market share throughout Southeast Asia.
